Client Overview

Sierra-Cedar is a leading consulting firm with over 30 years of client success, specializing in solving complex business problems across the public sector, healthcare, higher education, and commercial industries.

With a team of experienced professionals, the company delivers tailored solutions in Oracle Cloud, AWS, and PeopleSoft, helping clients define strategic roadmaps, implement technologies, and provide ongoing support. With 300+ cloud projects and 50 clients across all states, Sierra-Cedar focuses on building long-term relationships and leveraging technology to achieve real business results.

To support its growing operations and enhance project management capabilities, Sierra-Cedar adopted Jira Cloud. The purpose of moving to Jira Cloud was to streamline workflows, improve collaboration, enable cloud-based reporting and dashboards, and ensure scalability and security across all projects while leveraging business-critical apps like Rich Filters, EazyBI, Risk Register, and WBS Gantt.

The firm's cloud-first strategy ensures that Jira Cloud aligns with their overall digital transformation goals, enabling teams to work more efficiently, reduce IT overhead, and adopt the latest innovations offered by Atlassian Cloud.

Challenges

Conducted three UAT cycles before production migration to validate data, apps, and configurations.
Some Rich Filter dashboards did not migrate and required manual recreation.
Data Center scripts were incompatible with Cloud, requiring redevelopment of automations and scripts.
Ensured complete migration of users, groups, permissions, and historical data through detailed validation.
Configured Atlassian Guard for secure identity and access management.
Used the EazyBI migration tool to transfer reports and cubes, as JCMA did not support EazyBI.
Performed post-migration manual activities, including setting global permissions, validating automations and workflow triggers, reapplying project and issue type avatars, and configuring AI tools (Rovo) in Jira Cloud.
Planned and executed the final cutover within a controlled downtime window.
Validated Marketplace app compatibility, addressing DC vs. Cloud feature gaps.
Managed user identity mapping, resolving duplicate accounts and domain changes.
Performed performance validation to ensure indexing, dashboards, and large projects worked efficiently.
